We are partnering with a global leader to find a junior-to-intermediate Automation specialist to join their validation team in Toronto. This is a hands-on technical contract role with real growth potential — strong performers may be considered for extension or conversion to full-time.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Write, maintain, and execute automated test scripts in Python and Perl
- Support the migration of existing Perl scripts to Python
- Use an internal validation tool to verify system requirements are correctly mapped in data
- Analyze software requirements and support formal verification activities
- Execute test cases in lab environments, including stress-test scenarios
- Document and track anomalous system behaviour
- Communicate test results clearly to engineers and supervisors
- Support integration of scripts into automation frameworks and CI/CD pipelines
Must-Haves
- 2-3 years of hands-on Python experience
- Working knowledge of Perl scripting
- Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- Strong English communication skills — written and verbal
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with Agile, SCRUM, or DevOps methodologies
Nice to Have
- CBTC (Communication-Based Train Control) experience
- Railway signaling background
- Embedded or real-time systems testing experience
- Familiarity with Git or version control systems
- Experience in regulated industries (rail, aerospace, medical)
This is a hybrid role, 6-month contract with potential for extension or full-time conversion
Hourly Rate Range: $35-$37/hour
